Phone visits

Phone visits work well for:

Video visits offer the same benefits as a phone visit plus:

  • A face-to-face meeting with your doctor

How to set up a virtual care appointment

To set up a virtual care appointment with one of our doctors, you need to:

  • Set up a FollowMyHealth patient portal account
  • Install the FollowMyHealth app on your mobile device or computer
  • Call your clinic to schedule your visit
  • Follow the instructions to join your appointment

FAQ

If you already have a FollowMyHealth portal account, all you need to do is sign in.

If you don’t have a portal account yet, it’s easy to set one up. Just follow these steps:

  • Visit Optum FollowMyHealth and click on the “I need to sign up” icon.
  • Complete the “Sign up” and “Connect” sections and watch for an email from noreply@followmyhealth.com.
  • Follow the steps in the email.

To schedule a video appointment, please call the doctor or clinic you wish to see.

Once your video visit has been scheduled, you’ll get a confirmation email with instructions and a link to join your appointment.

Be sure you’re using a mobile device or computer with a camera with plenty of light. Before your visit, make sure the app is working.

Please note, we ask that patients log in 15 minutes early to give enough time to confirm important information before your doctor joins the appointment.

Yes, you can get a prescription refill during a virtual care visit.

The cost of your visit depends on your health insurance plan. Please note, you may have a copay with this visit. You should talk to your insurance plan to check on the cost to you, if any.

If you don’t have internet access or a device with a camera, your phone is a great way to have a virtual care visit. Please note, standard data rates apply when using your cell phone for a virtual care visit.

If you need lab work, your doctor will let you know during or after your appointment. Your doctor will also let you know when and where you will have lab work done.

Talk to FollowMyHealth Tech Support Team if:

  • You’re having trouble downloading the app
  • You need help setting up the app
  • You’re having problems getting the app to work
