About:
I have been in primary care adult medicine for 30+ years. I like being able to connect with people in this close setting. It is a privilege to be in a place where people will open up about the things they would never say to anyone else, and to feel that I can really make a difference for them. My patients have said that they feel listened to. My collegues have said that I am detailed and a good diagnostician. I think of myself as a translator. I am able to translate medical language into English. I have found that people can understand even relatively complex medical issues if the explanation is provided without using medical jargon. I like to educate patients so that they can more fully participate in making health care decisions. I also focus on preventative care.
Hobbies:
Besides medicine, I am also a naturalist with training in botany, ornithology, entomology, and other disciplines. I have been married for over 30 years to a wonderful physical therapist I met when I was a young resident. We have three daughters and live in the mountains, surrounded by junipers and pinon pine. I also play piano and am active in my local church.

Dr Russo actually "listens" to his patients. He answers my questions and explains associated medical conditions clearly. He is knowledgeable, and thorough. Dr Russo has made important recommendations and referrals based on test results and history. For Example, he found a renal artery blockage that required a stent; had he not discovered it and made the important diagnosis an referrals, I might have lost my right kidney because the renal artery was 99% blocked. I might add that he assisted in getting me in to see a nephrologist and vascular surgeon because I couldn't even get return phone calls. This is just one example of the care I receive from Dr. Russo. I honestly can say enough about him. |
