Diabetes education
Our Optum Diabetes Education program was developed in 1983 to provide patients with the latest treatment, tools, and information to properly manage their diabetes. As New Mexico’s largest and most complete program of its type, we offer a range of outpatient services that are covered by most health insurance plans. Our program has been accredited by the American Diabetes Association since 1993 and the American Association of Diabetes Educators since 2008. Early diagnosis and treatment can decrease your risk of developing serious medical complications, including blindness, heart disease, nerve damage, and kidney damage. Because diabetes requires ongoing self-management and discipline, the Diabetes Education Team helps people get the information they need to make informed choices in their daily lives. We offer group and individual classes for diabetes management, as well as group classes for pre-diabetes management. Please call us at 1-505-262-7455 to learn more about our services, or to schedule an appointment.
